Outdoor Knives

When you spend your work or off-duty time outside, having a good knife in your pocket or by your side ensures you'll be ready for any unexpected task. In fact, a knife is the most essential tool that you can take with you, and our outdoor knives come in a variety of styles, sizes and blades to fit your every need. Some of the challenges that outdoor situations can bring are best dealt with using a fixed blade, while other tasks are better served with a good pocket folder. Every knife has its own unique advantages, but what they all have in common is that all Sarge outdoor knives are made from the best materials available. After all, durability is the main thing to be concerned about with any outdoor blade, and it always helps to have a quality sheath that's equally as rugged.

At Sarge Knives, we understand that the perfect outdoor knife for one person may not be the best choice for another. However, one thing that all outdoor knives have in common is the need to be multifaceted. Since there is no one-size-fits-all knife, you may find it more convenient to carry multiple knives on your outdoor adventures. Folding blades are typically more versatile and are easy to tote as an everyday carry, especially in situations where it would be a burden to wear a sheath. Plus, the advancement in recent years for locking mechanisms has improved their reliability and safety for heavy-duty tasks. When you are using folders outside, it is important to keep their hinge area clean and lightly oiled for smoother opening and closing actions.

For generations, carbon steel blades ruled and were considered to hold the sharpest edge. But carbon steel is very susceptible to rust and corrosion, and often required the user to spend as much time caring for the blade as they spent using it. Our outdoor knives are made from 440C stainless steel and come in a variety of finishes, such as TiN coated, bead-blast, satin finished, black coated or mirror polished. Stainless steel is a metal alloy comprised of several elements like iron, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, carbon and silicon. Stainless blades come out of the box ready to go and are very resistant to the elements.  When it is time, sharpening your outdoor knife can be done in similar fashion to sharpening a carbon steel blade but a diamond-based stone replaces the traditional whetstone. There are also numerous manual and mechanized systems available that sharpen stainless blades at astounding speeds.

Whether you are working around the house, going on a weekend camping trip, hitting the woods for an early morning hunt, or facing life-or-death situations as a first responder, make sure you have outdoor knives you need to get the job done quickly and safely. The handle is often an overlooked part when shopping for a good knife. After all, the blade is what catches the eye. But, having the right grip and one that fits comfortably in your hand is just as important as having a drop point or spearhead blade. Composite handles are easily molded for an ambidextrous fit, whereas textured handles provide a superior grip especially in wet conditions. For fixed-blade outdoor knives, many enthusiasts prefer the conventional wooden handle for its exceptional feel.

Our large selection of knives ensures that you will find a good utility knife for camping, hunting, or any other outdoor adventures you may have. If you have any other questions, please call us at 1-800-454-7448
